When I first saw this piece I instantly fell in love with it .. I wanted to keep it wood but sand it down and have the more raw wood look. After cleaning it up and getting a better look at it, I realized that there was some damage in areas that needed to be fixed so I knew I would be painting it. I was thinking a beautiful smooth finish with maybe tiny bit of distressing. But while working on the piece and sanding in between the primer and the base coat I realized this piece had a plan of it’s own and instead of fighting it I decided to let the piece take charge and lead the way. The wood grain was popping thru so easily as if it was telling a story. Leave it to me to get sentimental about refinishing furniture but I always feel that I’m breathing life back into the piece but also keeping the history and stories that the piece has to tell.
I wanted to add a little more character so I decided to add Some stenciling to the drawer sides and on the inside of the doors. It’s subtle but adds a ton of interest to the piece. I always love having versatility in a piece. This can be used and a clothing wardrobe, or a linen cabinet. Could be used just to style and decorate in a room that needs a little bit of character. When a piece has so many possibilities it makes it so much easier to imagine it in different rooms for different uses.

Till then, stay warm and cozy
