This antique buffet and hutch belongs to my father in law. Over the past 3 weeks he has been moving into his dadominium, and we thought these antique pieces could use a fresh makeover. We have a lot of grays in his place so I thought a black and wood combo would really look nice on these pieces. These pieces have details that I really wanted to enhance.
So I started sanded to see what I was working with. There was some damage to the top of the buffet so I knew I had to use a darker stain on that to cover up some of that. When I sanded the legs, I loved the look of the bare wood but it was to bare, so I lightly painted them so that Only little bit of the black was coming through And popped some of the details out more.
I used black on the other parts to really contrast the bare wood. I added some rub n buff in gold around some of the details on the legs .
